Week of October 9

Brothers and Sisters,

This week you will be receiving some important email announcements from our Building Campaign Folks. One email will be from the good people who are Co-chairing the effort, Rob and Becky; the other will be from the guy who’s going to be coming to your house and asking you for a lot of money (that would be Father Aidan). Please be on the lookout for all that important information.

Sunday’s Memorial Service will be for Schema Nun Elizabeth. We hope that you have been enjoying the memorial bios we have been publishing for our departed parishioners. Since the majority of you never knew these brothers and sisters in Christ, learning a little bit about their lives will help personalize your prayers for them, especially when we remember them in their annual memorial services. We each have an ongoing relationship with them, though they are not physically with us, and they need our prayers. We hope you take the time to get to know them, just as the next generations will read about you.

St. Thomas School

On Saturday, October 14, Jared Henderson will be leading discussion on the final chapter of Volume III, “Bells and Bell Ringing”. Online access is available on Discord; like to participate online, you still need to sign-up ahead of time. Just send an email to remote.meetings@theforerunner.org by Thursday, October 12, to reserve your spot.

Coming Up

As we move forward with our Building Program, we want to remind everyone to use The Akathist for a New Temple at least once a week. Copies are available in the bookstore, and there is also a recording of the service on Discord. Our prayers are the most important contribution we can make.

We can also take St Eanswythe with us when we ask for her intercessions for our Building Program. Recently, our patroness has been to Turkey, California, and Japan. As you travel and pray for our new temple, or as you get together with friends, send your photos to us so we can post them on Discord.

Our next Safety and Security Rehearsal will be Sunday, October 29. This rehearsal will be for a medical emergency, so we will simply evacuate both buildings and walk to the Rally Signs on the parking lots. However, now that the weather is a bit cooler, we will be taking a head count, so please plan on being patient with that portion of the process.

Our Moment of Grace and Courtesy

We have lots of wonderful children’s books in the Calming Room. Those books will last a lot longer if we will show our children how to treat them gently. That means opening and closing them carefully, not throwing them or tearing the pages, and putting them back carefully on the shelves when we are done with them.

An unworthy priest,
