About the St. Joanna Myrrhbearing burial society ministry

As the body of the Lord Jesus was cared for by Saints Joseph and Nicodemos and the Myrrhbearing women - washed, anointed, clothed and placed with prayer into a tomb, so Orthodox Christians have traditionally buried their loved ones.

Our Mission

The St. Joanna the Myrrhbearers burial society is established to provide comprehensive burial services for the reposed that glorify Jesus Christ and honor the Orthodox tradition of body care, preparation and burial. Our ministry will lovingly and reverently come alongside the family and friends of the reposed to support and educate them about this most Holy ancient tradition that honors the body as a temple of God.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness...”
— Genesis 1:26 NKJV
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
— 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 NKJV
