Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings in the Name of the Lord.
Christ is Risen!
The Pascha Book Study begins on Wednesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m. and, on Saturday, May 8, at 4:00 p.m., St. Thomas School begins volume III of Metropolitan Hilarion’s series Orthodox Christianity. Bible Study and Book Study will also be back in action starting the evening of Thursday, May 6, so there are lots of great education opportunities all throughout Bright Week. Please build on your hard work during Great Lent and take advantage of as many of those as you can.
Our Calendar
The Fast
There is No Fasting during Bright Week (Wahoo!)
Tuesday, May 4, and Wednesday, May 5
Daily Services
Orthros at 5:00 a.m.
Vespers at 5:00 p.m.
There will be No Daily Service on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Also, please note that the services of Bright Week are much shorter than the normal daily services. Additionally, if you plan on attending the daily services, it’s generally a good idea to check the day before to make sure that the service will be offered. Sometimes pastoral situations require a change of plans and the service cannot be offered on that particular day.

The Pascha Book Study
The Pascha Book Study starts this Wednesday, May 5, and the book that we are going to be using is called Hidden and Triumphant. It’s a history of Russian iconography during the Soviet years. Normally, the book costs $29.00, but it’s on sale at our parish bookstore, Christ the Lightgiver, for just $22.
To wet your interest in the book and the study, here’s the schedule that we will be using:
Wednesday, May 5 - Introduction and Chapter 1
Wednesday, May 12 - Chapter 2
Wednesday, May 19 - Chapter 3
Wednesday, May 26 - Chapter 4 & 5
Wednesday, June 2 - Chapter 6 & Appendix A
Wednesday, June 9 - Appendix B & C
The book study will be in person and online. The in-person group will meet in the narthex of the Long Hall until the parish house renovation is complete.
See the emailed newsletter for Zoom details.
Coming Up at St. Thomas School
This coming Saturday, May 8, we will begin Volume III of the Metropolitan Hilarion’s series, The Architecture, Icons, and Music of The Orthodox Church. It will be a great time to pick up the series and Father Aidan will be leading the discussion of Chapter 1, The Tabernacle and Solomon’s Temple.
See the emailed newsletter for Zoom details.
Our Moment of Grace and Courtesy
If one of the communion lines is shorter than the one you are in, it’s perfectly all right (and it will keep the service moving more smoothly) for you just to walk over and get in the shorter line.

I hope to see many of you at the Pascha Book Study on Wednesday.
Since this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day, when you remember your biological mom, be sure and do something nice for your godmother as well.
An unworthy priest,
Aidan
