Week of August 5, 2018

Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord.

The folks at our sister parish, Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, will celebrate their feast day today, Monday, August 6, with Orthros at 9am and Divine Liturgy at 10am. Let’s be sure and support our brothers and sisters by joining them for the Divine Services.

Our Calendar

The Dormition Fast

During this fast we observe the traditional fasting discipline (no meat, poultry, dairy, fish, wine, and olive oil) Monday through Friday, with katalysis (a blessing) for wine, and olive oil on Saturdays and Sundays.  There is also katalysis for fish, wine and olive oil on Monday, August 6th which is the great feast of the Transfiguration of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Coming Up

The Dormition Fast culminates with the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God. We will offer Great Vespers with the Lamentations for the Theotokos on Tuesday, August 14, and then on Wednesday, August 15, we will serve Orthros at 7am and Divine Liturgy at 9am. Be sure and join us for this greatest feast of the Mother of God.

Our Moment of Grace and Courtesy

We have a parish photographer who is authorized to take pictures during our services. However, unless you have a blessing from our priest, we ask that you refrain from taking photograhs during the liturgy or weddings or baptisms or chrismations. This can be very distracting, and we do not want to distract anyone from the worship of the Most Holy Trinity.

There are six Paraclesis Services left in this brief season. Please do your best to join us for one of these services as we ask the Mother of God for her intercessions.

An unworthy priest,
Aidan
