The room-width stone hearth and ceiling-height facing of fireplace were demolished, and the sunken living room floor was raised by filling with 4 inches of new concrete. The wall painting was all done by church members. |

The load-bearing wall between the living room and bedroom was removed and replaced with a hidden beam and two columns. The former master bath and walk-in closet was converted to an ADA restroom, cry room and AC utility room. |

The old garage floor (left) was also raised, but instead of concrete, we used treated sleepers, a vapor barrier and 3/4" Sturdifloor T&G underlayment. After walling-in the garage doors, we had a 600 square-foot room for our bookstore! |

The old circular front driveway (left) was widened to 20 feet, and an asphalt drive and parking lot was added on the west side of the property (to the right in these pictures). |

Landscaping was done by volunteers who moved tons of rocks turned up in the parking lot excavation, filling a 40-foot dumpster, and who selected and planted these two xeriscape beds of native Texas plants. The mulch for the beds was produced from the juniper removed from the property. |
